Whitney Smith is an associate lawyer with Vandeputte Law, practicing primarily in the area of family law, and secondarily in real estate and civil litigation. She has significant experience in family law, having practiced exclusively in the area prior to joining Vandeputte Law in 2017. Although she is a strong advocate in the courtroom, her area of expertise is in negotiation, and she has a reputation for settling previously “unresolvable” matters favourably for her clients, at minimal cost.
Whitney earned her law degree from the University of Toronto in 2012, where she held a leadership role with the Family Law Project, an award-winning pro bono initiative that provides family law services to low-income, self-represented litigants. Previously, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from McGill University.
Passionate about community involvement, Whitney serves as a Big Sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters, as well as on a leadership committee with the United Way. She resides in Hamilton with her family.
